TOUR 2 One Day Tour: Brasov, Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Bears Sanctuary

In this day tour we invite you to discover the most important tourist attractions of Brasov area which has more than 50 castle, citadels, fortified churches and fortresses. Our first stop is Bran Castle also called Dracula’s Castle, it is situated in Bran village. A remarkable architecture with Gothic elements, the castle was built between 1377-1382, at 60 m high. Built originally as a fortress surrounded by a massive wall with small windows which were used to shoot the enemies, Bran Castle proved to be a successful defense point. In the inner courtyard of the castle is a fountain used to provide water in case of siege. Bran Castle got its fame from the novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker and Dracula movie. After the visit of Bran Castle will go to Rasnov city to visit the picturesque streets with medieval houses and the Fortress. Rasnov Fortress is one of the best preserved peasant fortress of Transylvania and was built in XIII -XIV centuries, the principal purpose was to defend themselves against Tartar attacks and was conquered only once around the year 1600 by Prince Gabriel Bathory. Here we can visit the small museum inside the Fortress, but the main reason is to show you a beautiful 360 degrees view over Brasov Depression and Piatra Craiului Mountain. This area is famous because here were filmed some scenes in 2003 for „Cold Mountain” movie. After our visit here we will stop to visit the Bear Sanctuary, Libearty, from Zarnesti. Here we will learn about the bears and about wildlife protection in general. The sight of bears climbing trees, playing in the water pools or just lazing in the meadows, gives you a far better understanding of the true nature of the animals than any concrete zoo could ever do.

In this tour we visit the former royal residence from Targoviste where Vlad Tepes ruled .This is also the place where the battle from june 1462 took place between Vlad Tepes (Dracula) and Mehmed II the Sultan of Otoman Empire. The battle ended with the defeat of the Ottoman army and in honor of his victory, Vlad Tepes built Chindia Tower which can be visited today! After we visit Targoviste we arrive at Curtea de Arges Monastery.
